Original painting by Claudia Dose

A more unusual depiction of Ganesh as he holds the world as he would usually hold a ladu (Indian sweet he loves). I am sure he isn’t going to eat it but he could. In Kashmir Shaivism he is considered “the doorkeeper” to our true nature, as he is guarding our breath (internally).

Externally (in mythology) he did that with so much love and devotion that he even tried to keep his own father out (when he didn’t know him yet) and got his head chopped off, and then replaced by an elephant head. And for being so devoted to his parents (and guarding) he is revered before every major celebration even before any other gods and goddesses. How sweet is that. He has that sweet and gentle nature of elephants, which made him very popular.
